Alpha is no longer a "tier-one" platform for FreeBSD, but looking for
experts on it is likely to be your best option; everything looks okay
as far as I can see, up to the point where the unaligned access
occurs. If I recall correctly (I haven't dealt with an Alpha chip in
a while, and there *were* differences from one to another), the
alignment requirements are strictly word-based...
