Given the error message, it's worth a try at least.  The sysctl is for
ignoring the mmap checks, and is most needed by the Radeon driver, but
given the error message, it would probably work for the Rage as well.

Your best bet is to just read through the mailing list.  A lot of work
has been done in the last 6 months that hasn't been updated on the
wiki, but most issues are documented in the mailing list archives
somewhere.
