Those two sentences are something of a contradiction. :) Do you mean vs picking
some older version of MySQL? It's not like 8.x is some new beta version, it's
3 years old now.

Easy only if you know how. Before I created this ticket, I couldn't find
anything anywhere that didn't say the issues of MySQL8 + PHP were all fixed in
newer PHP. Of course most blogs/tutorials/docs out there are for linux, not
FreeBSD.
Try googling for things like 'FAMP tutorial' and see if you can find any where
you won't get stuck because of this issue. :(
