I have received a patch, which does not address the full problem (which
is in GNU make and in the way libgcj processes a large number of files),
but which may help.

This is currently undergoing tests on a machine with 512MB main memory
and 1GB swap, and if it brings memory consumption down to pass the build
on that machine, I will reenable the Java frontend with an update of the
lang/gcc41 port.
