for the cups problem you can read the documents in
http://www.cups.org/documentation.php

You can also try LPD spooling system that comes with
FreeBSD:
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/printing.html

For the keyboard problem read this
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/README.config
