Neither of the 2 mirrors I maintain run a MTA, or has means of receiving
mail - nor would I like to install/start a MTA on them, as it increase
maintenance.

But as mileage clearly wary, I would be nice to provide multiple methods,
so each admin can choose the one they prefer.
