MMacD <scratch65535 at att.net> has reassigned Bugzilla Automation
<bugzilla at FreeBSD.org>'s request for maintainer-feedback to gnome at FreeBSD.org:
Bug 218750: devel/dbus: X11 fails to start because /etc/machine-id missing
under 10.3 RELEASE 2017Q2
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=218750

--- Description ---
Apparently, as of the current quarter, dbus wants to see a unique id in
/etc/machine-id, a file that did not previously exist.	I discovered that this
morning when X failed to start because the file wasn't found. I created it per
documentation, and X started.

The pkg upgrade process (or the dbus part) should create that file when not
found, if it expects to see it. The id is apparently unconnected to anything
else in the world, so if I can create it in an ad-hoc way, surely dbus itself
can.
