Abiword wan't start (pango error?)

What locale are you using?

Check your settings, and make sure you have the appropriate fonts
installed. Version 2.6.8_1 added a dependency on deja-vu fonts. The
default font is now DejaVu Sans which you should try to see if it looks
better.
