In general, no. You have to choose either GNOME 2.4 or 2.5. However,
you can keep the old libraries around for running applications that are
still linked to them. You will not be able to build new GNOME 2.4 apps,
however.
It sounds like you'd be more comfortable waiting for GNOME 2.6.
