My dictionary distinguishes between daemon and demon though
they clearly have similar etymology. All the evil impilications are attached
to demon -- not to daemon. In my mind a daemon (a subordinate deity) 
fits in the same general group as Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny and 
the Tooth Fairy.
