gdb howto?

Hi!

I've tried to compile multiple different versions of gdb (cvs snapshot,
checked out from cvs, ...) but none of the compiled since most of them
already complaint about amd64-unknown-freebsd5.2.1.

Could anyone please say which version/tarball(URL?) definitly works.
