Snort without segfaults?

I've just installed Snort 2.0.0_1 on my 4.8-STABLE (PC64) system. The
default config file makes for a very unstable setup that is reliably crashed
by any incoming or outgoing HTTP requests. From 'kdump | tail':

 77625 snort RET read 0
 77625 snort CALL read(0x3,0x1201e0000,0x8000)
77625 snort GIO fd 3 read 288 bytes
          [snip HTTP traffic]
 77625 snort RET read 288/0x120
 77625 snort PSIG SIGSEGV SIG_DFL
 77625 snort NAMI "snort.core"

Is anyone running Snort successfully on an Alpha? If so, did you have to
remove certain rules, or did it Just Work?
