aic79xx does not work when compiled into the kernel (not as module).
It does not detect anything or say anything at all.
This is also true for 2.4.22
I also tested with the lastest driver:
http://people.freebsd.org/~gibbs/linux/SRC/aic79xx-linux-2.4-20031106-tar.gz
Same result.
Tests done with SMP kernel.
Hardware: (onboard scsi, SuperMicro X5DL8-GG)
2 controllers of following type:
SCSI storage controller: Adaptec AIC-7902 U320 (rev 03)
Subsystem: Super Micro Computer Inc: Unknown device 5544
Flags: bus master, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 16
2 Intel Xeon CPUs.
Kernel config:
# CONFIG_SCSI_AIC7XXX is not set
CONFIG_SCSI_AIC79XX=y
CONFIG_AIC79XX_CMDS_PER_DEVICE=32
CONFIG_AIC79XX_RESET_DELAY_MS=15000
# CONFIG_AIC79XX_BUILD_FIRMWARE is not set
# CONFIG_AIC79XX_ENABLE_RD_STRM is not set
# CONFIG_AIC79XX_DEBUG_ENABLE is not set
CONFIG_AIC79XX_DEBUG_MASK=0
# CONFIG_AIC79XX_REG_PRETTY_PRINT is not set
# CONFIG_SCSI_AIC7XXX_OLD is not set
Hope you can help,
