I'm not sure if you all want to hear this, but if the list is being
archived it may help someone else to hear my solution for the
strange behavior of this particular sony drive.

Hi Jackson. I just saw your mail sent to my other account regarding
the SCB errors with the new kernel. I do indeed have the same drive
as you. The error doesnt seem to be part of the aic7xxx driver as
I originaly thought. Its something higher up. Something in the
basic SCSI code. I got it to work with 2.2pre6 last night by turning
off probe all LUNs. You know.... you're configuring the kernel, and
you get to the scsi bit and it says something like "probe all
LUNs". Say no to that. There's only one LUN on each of my scsi
devices anyways since I dont have a cd changer or anything.
I did that. It works great. Its really a combination of the scsi
code and the fact that that particular model of sony cd-r is just
weird. If I unplugged it, the other cd-rom on the chain worked fine
regardless of if all LUNs were probed or not.
Good luck. I dont know if this'll work in all conditions. I think it
will, but I havent tried it with a different kernel yet.
