I used to agree but I changed my mind while trying to make powerpc* userland
usable. I realized that it would be a waste of time fixing an undetermined
number of packages, maintaining the patches and so while waiting them to get
accepted by upstream. 

In my experience, upstream wouldn't care much about updating because they don't
see any benefit on changing something that's working for a long time just
because of new Tier 2 platform. I see riscv would be more appealing than
powerpc* at this point but someone at FreeBSD side should work with affected
projects to get interfaces updated.

In any case, I assume old interfaces are supported: amd64 keeps
COMPAT_FREEBSD[4-14] (except 8, for some reason)
