That's the fact, below! It's a quite old release and exposing it to the
Internet for ~10 years is itself a scary story, who knows what it contains
in the background.

I'd create a backup, do a fresh OS install from scratch, and restore
everything to the new system. Is there any technical obstacle to not being
able to do this?

What services do you run there?
