[Bug 280275] ports-mgmt/pkg: Wrong exit code in periodic script 490.status-pkg-changes
Date: Mon, 29 Jul 2024 09:02:27 UTC
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=280275 --- Comment #4 from Andre Stoebe <andrestoebe@gmail.com> --- Hey, just a friendly reminder since there was no feedback yet. All these patches I sent just complicate things, so let's just ignore them for now. Changing the exit code should be trivial in the end, and there certainly are other ways to do it. So, to break this down, do we agree that notable information (i.e. packages have changed) should follow an exit code of 1, as documented in periodic(8)? Most of the status scripts in /etc/periodic/daily behave this way. And it helps tremendously to only receive periodic mails on system changes or when something is wrong. Otherwise this just leads to alert fatigue, at least for me. Thanks. Kind regards, Andre -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
