Hey, just a friendly reminder since there was no feedback yet.

All these patches I sent just complicate things, so let's just ignore them for
now. Changing the exit code should be trivial in the end, and there certainly
are other ways to do it.

So, to break this down, do we agree that notable information (i.e. packages
have changed) should follow an exit code of 1, as documented in periodic(8)?
Most of the status scripts in /etc/periodic/daily behave this way.

And it helps tremendously to only receive periodic mails on system changes or
when something is wrong. Otherwise this just leads to alert fatigue, at least
for me.
