We currently reference revision numbers from the mercurial repository,
the pro is that it's in part a linear version number (in the form of
14075:f73fc37ec88d, where 14075 is a "serial" number).
By using the github as upstream, we would have revision numbers in the
form of like, 57ff5e7 (it's still possible to do a "serial" by doing
git log | grep ^commit | wc -l minus 1). The pros for this approach
is that Illumos seems to have been moved to github lately, and git ->
hg export sometimes lag for a week before catching up with the git
repository. The benefit of doing it this way is that we do not get
blocked if git -> hg conversion is stuck.
Cheers,
