Like I said, when a PR goes stale for 8+ weeks, that can happen,
especially on unmaintained ports.

Which is exactly the hack I was using, but with the other generic work I
decided to fix this unmaintained port properly for dfly.

I don't see the issue in having the stagedir match what's installed.
Obviously I ran into this and it caused an issue for me. If it's some
kind of crusade for you then remove it.
