 In x11/xfce4-terminal Ctrl-t works fine. Since 0.6.0 release it uses (like
 Thunar) Gtk menu accelerators feature.
 
 If you want to redefine shortcuts, you must enable "Editable menu
 accelerators" in the User Interfaces Preferences dialog [1] and follow FAQ
 [2].
