What driver (and how) to use for Radeon HD 6950 these days

Thank you very much, Warren. Did not come across those wiki links
previously, which would have been infinitely more helpful than googling
or the cursory search of the maillist archive I did...
I'll take a look at the wiki entries, do the needful, and report back
with whatever I find on my system.
