I see the same thing on my Sandybridge system. I've been seeing it
since I first installed KMS code. Others suggestion I am infected by
"The Matrix", but it's red, not green. They may appear in any window
and I can often eliminate it by selecting the "infected" area and then
de-selecting. Yours is the only other report I've seenof this problem.
While I'd love to get this fixed, getting console mode back would be
even nicer.

I also occasionally get other artifacts like a few lines of test
getting darker. I suspect it is being written to the screen twice with
a single pixel offset, but I can't confirm.

9.1-Stable (r246004M) amd64 system. Sandybridge with no nVidia support
card. Pure Intel GPU. ThinkPad T520. All xorg is from ports and this
has happened since I installed the KMS support..
