Can you test this card with Linux 3.8? For instance, using a live CD of
Ubuntu 13.04.
The FreeBSD Radeon driver, ported from Linux 3.8, doesn't have the power
management feature. This new feature, which landed in Linux 3.11 as
experimental, allows the driver to adjust power & clocks. Without this,
the factory default is used: for some people, the card has low power &
clocks, for other people (maybe you), it's the other way around.
