r300-based boards... Are they now officially a lost cause?

It would be very helpful if you are able to test this both with the new
xorg that's in ports, and the experimental repository. I don't know
exactly where the 'cut' is, and I think even more drivers were axed in
mesa 8.0. It might also be that the driver works in X, but you don't
get any acceleration, and things like that.
