Linux-programs can't do direct rendering?..

Hello!

I'm seeing this on the two different computers already. Although native
FreeBSD programs can do direct rendering, the Linux ones (such as
google-earth) can not.

One of the machines is FreeBSD-6.3-PRERELEASE/amd64 with a Radeon card. The
other -- FreeBSD-7.0-PRERELEASE/i386 with an NVidia.

On both systems the native glxinfo (installed by the the graphics/mesa-demos)
reports direct rendering as available:

	% glxinfo | grep direct
	direct rendering: Yes

on both, however, the Linux version (from linux_dri-7.0) says No:

	% /compat/linux/usr/X11R6/bin/glxinfo | grep direct
	direct rendering: No

Asking on x11@ produced 0 responses... Does anyone else see this? What could
be the reason? Thanks,

	-mi
