As with the port + the Intel Itanium® Processor Family (IPF). As with the port itself, these pages are still mostly a work in progress.

As long as we don't lock our self into a position where we cannot switch to another search engine in the future if needed (and I don't see that happening here), I don't consider the closed search engine a big problem. When I talked to glebius about this some time ago we discussed simply hosting the search engine on a system at rambler and then only allowing rambler employees, and potentially other people who have signed an NDA, access to the system. I think that would be preferable to "The FreeBSD Project" having to handle access to the system to avoid any potential legal problems. I do have one thing which I don't like too much about using rambler by default and that is that rambler basically mirrors the mails so we have yet another place for mail references (we already both have docs.freebsd.org and lists.freebsd.org). I'm not sure if there are any solutions to this, but it would be nice to handle this somehow. That said, it's not a showstopper for me. > Currently, we are not aware of way to make Rambler to search in more > specific mailing lists, say freebsd-doc and freebsd-www; only in one > at the moment. One minor nit which should probably be handled is that rambler currently doesn't display the message ID - that should be there since that's the best persistent reference for a mail. > I have also asked, if it is possible to search FreeBSD.org web site > with Rambler. There are some issues which should be worked out, and you mention the ones I can recall in your mail, other than that it sounds a feasible way ahead. Of cause, it requires someone to take the lead on this... hint hint :-). BTW. you might want to poke wosch directly to hear if he has any comments, since he is the one handling the current search system. Also note, that you should read the lack of other responses as "No objections" :-). -- Simon L. If you have submitted an application and have not received a confirmation that the foundation received your application, then please resubmit your application. The FreeBSD Foundation will be providing a limited number of travel grants to individuals requesting assistance. Please fill out and submit the Travel Grant Request Form at www.freebsdfoundation.org/documents/ by October 6, to apply for this grant. Though we would like to support everyone who applies, priority will be given to FreeBSD developers speaking at the conference. Due to constrained resources, we would appreciate if developers could look to their employers first for sponsorship or cost-splitting. Also, to be considered for the grant, you must provide a detailed justification for attending this conference in the application. Please describe, not only your purpose for attending, but how the FreeBSD community will benefit by you attending this conference. Please note, the deadline for submitting Travel Grant Request forms is October 6, 2006. TIP TOP is delighted to announce new co-operation with NILFISK, another great global player. With NILFISK, we have completed our provider system and we are proud to be associated with 3 world market leaders. JOHNSON for the chemical sector, UNGER for windows & cleaning equipment sector and finally NILFISK for the cleaning [p_news11-1.jpg] machine sector. The demand on TT maid service has increased tremendous during the last years. Unfortunately too many of our well trained maids got lost to our customers after TIP TOP service being provided. Consequently the famous maid service is not available any further from November 2006. Our Discount member Card now becomes FREELY available for those customers ordering our service for more 6,000 THB per order. This member discount card remains valid until 06/07. [p_news11-2.jpg] A word form Mr. Ralph Dettke our latest franchise partner. I had very big concerns regarding my work permit. My entire livelihood and future in Thailand is based on this document. Thanks to TIP TIP (with the biggest thanks going to Khun Vi). She is absolutely expert in all kinds of work permit and company set up affairs and far better than most of these so-called "international law service" companies. Yesterday I received the paper of papers from the labor department with the running number 1399/2549. The price I had to pay for TIP TOP was still reasonable. They have charged me 20,000 THB for the company set up and 25,000 THB for the work permit. If you wish to receive more info about TIP TOP, its services or available franchise areas, please don't hesitate to [9]contact us. I received some kind comments and modified my drafts. Modifications include: * Now compliant with the logo-guidelines: the "FreeBSD" text/logo is now single-color white (not a white "Free" with a red "BSD" as in the first draft). * To bring back a "daemonic"-red ;-) the version number is now RED. * The background-colors are a little bit brighter now (the old colors looked great on a monitor but were overly dark on printouts). I hereby donate my part of the artwork to the FreeBSD project, so you may use and distribute it under any license you may choose, e.g. under the BSD-license (you may even place it in the Public Domain). Unless the FreeBSD project chooses some other license, the FreeBSD license (http://www.freebsd.org/copyright/freebsd-license.html) applies. It would be nice if you give me some credit, but that's not legaly required. I would be pleased if these material could be placed at the website (e.g. http://www.freebsd.org/art.html). I would suggest putting a link to the artwork page in the downloads section, so that everyone who downloads an ISO-image can easily obtain the label and sleeve. For proper definition of "just" yes :-). It needs to be tested e.g. against freshports before we replace the main cvsweb scripts. I was looking into it but the decided other stuff was more important, but it is still on my TODO for some point. -- Simon L. I just wanted to make sure that someone knew about the bug, if it had not yet been reported. The first drafts were posted to the FreeBSD-advocacy-mailing-list on Sept 1st, and since then I have received some kind feedback that lead to some changes (see mailing-list archive). In particular I would like to thank (in totally random order) Matt Olander, Simon Nielsen, Don Witt, Dru Lavigne, Ceri Davies, G?bor K?vesd?n, Remko Lodder, Dag-Erling Sm?rgrav and Eric Anderson for their kind feedback. All design-flaws and errors remain my own. The resulting "final" versions of the artwork are here: Some PNG thumbnails (30 dpi), 800KB: http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/k8HV54dR1/freebsd-6.1_cdrom-artwork_30dpi-png.tar.bz2 Some larger PNG thumbnails (75 dpi), 2.9MB: http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/k8HV54dR1/freebsd-6.1_cdrom-artwork_75dpi-png.tar.bz2 Full quality PNG images (300 dpi), 15MB: http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/k8HV54dR1/freebsd-6.1_cdrom-artwork_300dpi-png.tar.bz2 Full quality JPEG images (300 dpi), 11MB: http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/k8HV54dR1/freebsd-6.1_cdrom-artwork_300dpi-jpeg.tar.bz2 PDF versions for easy printout, 9.2MB: http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/k8HV54dR1/freebsd-6.1_cdrom-artwork_pdf.tar.bz2 SVG and ODT sources for future modifications, 13.5MB: http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/k8HV54dR1/freebsd-6.1_cdrom-artwork_source.tar.gz I would be pleased if these material could be placed at the website (e.g. http://www.freebsd.org/art.html). I would suggest to place a link to the artwork page in the downloads section, so that everyone who downloads an ISO-image can easily obtain the label and sleeve. If you find this artwork useful, I will also create "6.2" versions for the upcoming release. LEGAL: The logo and the logo-font are by Anton Gural. The colour palette is taken from Anton Gurals design-studies (but slightly modified). The text is taken from the FreeBSD-website. The remaining artwork is by me. I have some input on the design regarding proper attribution of trademarks. 1. Please add a TM next to the logo. It should be on the upper right, below the ear. When the logo is right next to the mark FreeBSD, like on the project's website, then the registered symbol covers both marks. But, in this design, the logo is separated and reduced in size. So, you can either move the mark FreeBSD closer to the logo, or just add the TM next to the logo. 2. In the description on the back of the DVD case and CD sleeve, only use the "r in circle" for the first use of the FreeBSD mark. You can probably do the same with Unix. It will look cleaner. So, on the back you will use the registered symbol twice for the FreeBSD mark. The first one is the mark next to the logo. The second one is the first word in the description. 3. Where you have the attribution on the bottom of cover and sleeve, please include: "FreeBSD is a registered trademark of The FreeBSD Foundation" and "The FreeBSD Logo is a trademark of The FreeBSD Foundation" 4. Add a TM next to Power to Serve. I believe that is all. I know this is probably a pain to make the changes. No, that will be insufficient. It is required to add an attribution, according to The Open Group which is the owner of the UNIX trademark. Note that it has to be spelled "UNIX" (all upper case); any other spellings ("Unix", "unix", "UN*X" etc) are considered an infringment of the trademark, except in private communications. I know a company who once had legal trouble with The Open Group because of incorrect usage of the UNIX trademark on their web pages. So this should be taken serious. It wasn't my place to assume the requirements for proper UNIX attribution. I based my comment on what our lawyer recommended for our trademarks. And, I realize now, this is not standard protocol. When using the FreeBSD mark, as outlined in item 6 of the Trademark Terms and Conditions, the trademark symbol needs to follow all prominent uses of the mark. This is why I stated, the first use of FreeBSD should have the symbol, but the subsequent uses don't need it, per the Foundation's requirements. Thanks again for your help on this issue. On the first try I tried to attach a traceroute.c.diff file but got following error message: There is an error with your problem report submission. The problem was: Patch file has wrong content type. On the second try I just copyied/pasted the contents of that file to the "Fix to the problem if known:" text input area and succesfully submitted following PR: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=104746 I don't know what content type Firefox uses when it is sending a diff file, but it is a common filename extension of a patch file and it should work. A bit different, but this is shorter, and is clear too and another long one: "Get FreeBSD" is translated as "Receive FreeBSD", and it can be "Dostat' FreeBSD", so, basically either there is a need to make a special russian stylesheet ( decrease fonts/rearrange the divs ) or to optimize russian translation, with specific width limits on misc elements, Best regards, Max. Are they still around? if not I need to cancel the order with my credit card ASAP. They are not listed with Yahoo! anymore despite ehir automated email that links to Yahoo! stores. How about putting a couple of 75dpi thumbnails on the logo page on the website and the rest on a FTP site? One CDROM-label, CDROM-sleeve and DVD-case showing for example FreeBSD/i386 should be enough. The thumbnails can be links to the FTP site with the rest of the stuff. There is a space between search input box and Search button, but just in case of sgml sourced page. Page generated from xsl is missing it. It tried to fix it in entity header2.searchinputs in share/sgml/header.ent, but without any success - I really do not understand, how to insert a space between two in in xsl. The only workaround I have found is to use  , but it is not a solution for this problem, which can occur in another places: Please, is there any possibility to insert a space between two tags? That is a question... >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From keramida at FreeBSD.org Mon Oct 30 10:40:29 2006 From: keramida at FreeBSD.org (Giorgos Keramidas) Date: Mon Oct 30 10:40:31 2006 Subject: www/104284: Add Mongolian Unix User Group's link to usergroups web page Message-ID: <200610301040.k9UAeTjn083013@freefall.freebsd.org> Synopsis: Add Mongolian Unix User Group's link to usergroups web page Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-www->keramida Responsible-Changed-By: keramida Responsible-Changed-When: Mon Oct 30 10:39:55 UTC 2006 Responsible-Changed-Why: Hi Ganbold, I'll take care of this. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=104284 From bugmaster at FreeBSD.org Mon Oct 30 11:08:45 2006 From: bugmaster at FreeBSD.org (FreeBSD bugmaster) Date: Mon Oct 30 11:08:57 2006 Subject: Current problem reports assigned to you Message-ID: <200610301108.k9UB8h3N086064@freefall.freebsd.org> Current FreeBSD problem reports Critical problems Serious problems S Tracker Resp.
