Hi,
Are you sure you have write permissions on that folder?
ls -alrt from your homedir will view permissions for everything
and you can spot temp in there.
It does not seem like an FTP error too me,
what does ``fetch
ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-5-current/All/tex-3.14159_2.tbz''
do? (without the `` and '' ofcourse).
And could you provide those details?
