We run our server www.paguito.com on a PIII Free-BSD. After two years of hard work, our site receives now more traffic than www.officedepot.com.mx (The site for Office Depot in Mexico) and www.OfficeMax.com.mx - TOGETHER. www.samsung.com just included us in ther website as recommended e-store. Whatch the banner linking to Paguito.com: http://www.samsung.com/mx/products/isd.htm We love FreeBSD. It saves us a lot of money and has allowed us, a family operated company in the 3rd World, to compete and cooperate with mayor international corporations without the costs of other operating systems. I was thinking if it would be possible for you to include my site in your gallery at: http://www.freebsd.org/gallery/cgallery.html May be I can cooperate too, by redistributing or perhaps mirroring here in Mexico. Thank you so much. May be he can add something about that. Sorry. I never did deep analyzis of entries were added to commercial gallery. Mostly I just vizited their site and check if information listed in submission is true. I think you need to check -www archives and/or PRs under www categories -- 99% of submission were done over these chanels. PS: It is ok if information is not true anymore -- everything is changing in this world. Just report it to ceri@ (he maintains commercial gallery now), he'll check facts and remove item if it does not belong to our gallery anymore. -- /* Alexey Zelkin && Independent Contractor */ /* phantom(at)FreeBSD.org && http://www.FreeBSD.org/java */ /* phantom(at)cris.net && http://www.FreeBSD.org.ua/ */ From bugmaster at freebsd.org Mon Feb 9 11:01:41 2004 From: bugmaster at freebsd.org (FreeBSD bugmaster) Date: Mon Feb 9 11:04:40 2004 Subject: Current problem reports assigned to you Message-ID: <200402091901.i19J1enA083196@freefall.freebsd.org> Current FreeBSD problem reports Critical problems Serious problems S Submitted Tracker Resp. The gallery is still maintained. The maintainer likes to batch up the submissions, although I don't know whether he waits for a certain number of submissions or a set period of time. With respect to the broken links, I wrote a very dirty script a short while ago to check them all and remove them after three failures, but I haven't had time to clean it up enough to trust the results yet. So the short answer is, yes, it's still maintained as time permits. Now, onto the commercial gallery which I maintain - I currently have approximately 10 submissions outstanding. The reason for this is that I am working on moving the build from the current raw-html-and-perl-script to XML/XSLT, and have been backing them up behind that. It's probably time for them to take priority over that work anyway, so I'll try to get them in this week. Ceri -- -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I already approached admins@ about this a long time ago, but I'm not familiar enough with locales to know exactly what effect this would have on people who do use them. How much would it freak you out to lose your locale setting within vi with no warning, for instance? If the answer is "not much", then we'll just go ahead and do it. Message-ID: <20040225080105.GA635@neo.redjade.org> Hello. Recently I've received couple of "Your message to freebsd-foobar awaits moderator approval" messages. The lists were freebsd-www, freebsd-newbies, freebsd-sparc64, and freebsd-test. Surely I didn't send them(spams) to the lists. It seems that some bad guy modifies its From: header to mine and sent spams to lists, which is quite annoying. Now I've canceled all the messages as instruction said. Actually I didn't unvail my e-mail address except an send-pr some months ago. I think spammers are collecting emails from pr page and abusing them. Can the pr pages be modified to convert originators' email like this: someone@somewhere.com -> someone at somewhere.com ? I think it's much more likely that they are harvesting on freebsd-bugs@, where most PRs get sent automatically (they all end up on one list or other). A quick look doesn't show much evidence of this happening via the webserver. > Can the pr pages be modified to convert originators' email like this: > someone@somewhere.com -> someone at somewhere.com ? While this could possibly be done on the webpages, it will never happen within the database itself and therefore will not stop address harvesting from the mailing lists, so I suspect it would be ineffective.
