buildkernel fails while compiling ath with -O0 (no optimization) for STABLE-10

Oh I got what you meant. No I was NOT specifically compiling the ATH module
but it was being built as part of the buildkernel process. I was actually
trying to build the kernel without optimizations (so I can debug it within
gdb) hence the need for that specific src.conf. Apparently as the build
runs, it fails at that very moment in the compilation which I mentioned
earlier.
