So now I have a different issue. I can get in and run xdm but it doesn't
switch to the X screen. I can see that xdm is running but <CTL><ALT>F9 goes
to the host machine's X where it already is. I tried vidcontrol but that
only goes to ttyv8.

Is there a way to tell the host machine to ignore those keystrokes and let
the virtual server have them?
