Just for curiosity, I tried commenting out ehci (i.e. disabling usb2) and
uncommented xhci (so enabling usb3) and then rebuilding kernel, and it *worked*
with no errors on usb3.

The usb3-connected disk is Seagate ST4000LM016 4TB SATA. Transferred large
files across, no errors, tested with sha512
