Hi
I have a HP PSC 2175 printer USB, I have installed from ports cups, hpoj
and libusb. ( FreeBSD 5.3-RC2 )
My printer is detected :
venus# dmesg | grep ulpt
ulpt0: Hewlett-Packard PSC 2170 Series, rev 2.00/1.00, addr 3, iclass
255/204
ulpt0: using bi-directional mode
To configure cups I must before configure hpoj driver but
ptal-init script fails to find my printer
venus# /usr/local/etc/rc.d/020.ptal-init.sh.sample setup
Stopping the HP OfficeJet Linux driver.

Starting the HP OfficeJet Linux driver.
No hpoj devices have been configured.
As root, run "/usr/local/etc/rc.d/020.ptal-init.sh setup".
In /var/log/messages, i can see :

dev=<mlc:usb:probe>, pid=19133, e=2, t=1099474653 ptal-mlcd

dev=<mlc:usb:probe>, pid=19140, e=22, t=1099474653 Couldn't find
device!
I suspect a problem with the version of the ports of libusb.
On the mailing list of the driver hpoj, it is indicated on several
occasions that it is necessary used the last version of libusb so that
hpoj functions under FreeBSD.
The ports version of libusb is 0.1.7_1, and the official webiste of
libusb :
"The current stable version of libusb is 0.1.8. This release fixes a
variety of bugs on all platforms and compile problems on BSD platforms.
It is highly reccomended to use this version."
Why libusb is not upgraded?. An upgrade could break other ports ?
Thanks for your help
PS : sorry for my bad english
