Yes, I mentioned that at the beginning of comment 2 -- I cannot reproduce that
problem.

The deprecation message on boot comes out when rc.conf contains a now-unused
syscons(4) keymap setting and rc.d/syscons automatically loaded the
corresponding vt(4) keymap instead. I would expect that to happen on a system
originally installed from 10.x or earlier. I cannot reproduce the first problem
reported here (installer setting keymap="us.pc-ctrl.kbd").
