Hi

For information purposes in case it helps or anyone is interested, I've 
built and installed the xorg server and utilities using the 
WITH_NEW_XORG knob and I can confirm it works very well on my hardware; 
which is:

Intel Q45 graphics controller, codenamed Eaglelake. CPU is Pentium 2xCore.
