As noted in my other post, it comes down to which NFSv4 spec is the
current one, since although I haven't looked, I'm fairly sure that
numeric uid/gid strings are allowed by the rfc3530bis draft.
Ideally, the Linux server would have a tunable to enable/disable
this, but I have no idea if that is the case. You might want to
check on the linux nfs mailing list?
