I think you should build the kernel and install it before installing
world, as others have allready pointed out.
1. cd /usr/src
2. make buildworld
3. make buildkernel KERNCONF=YOUR_KERN_CONF_FILE
3. make installkernel KERNCONF=YOUR_KERN_CONF_FILE
4. reboot.
"REBOOT This is reguired. I am not sure if install world works if
you don't reboot into single user mode. but a reboot is required any
way."
5. cd /usr/src
6. make installworld
7. reboot.
