The code is called ATA mkIII, you can get a snapshot for RELENG_5 from
http://people.freebsd.org/~sos
Soren is interested in MFCing the code, but it has to be made sure that
it doesn't introduce regressions. Also it breaks binary compatibility
with the ATA tools, so you would have to recompile them.
Soren and the release engineering team are authoritive in that area,
I don't know what the planning looks like at the moment.
At the moment your best bet is to get 6.0-BETA2 and see if it works
for you. If it doesn't, we need to fix it :-)
