David, thank you for the clarification.  I am quite at loss about why dareprobe
plus WP-detection would cause the problems that you experienced.  I hoped to
get to the bottom of the issue, but the puzzling problem with CAM debug makes
that very hard.

I guess I'll just work on a patch that would add an ability to disable
WP-detection.  And then you'll be able to just set a tunable or sysctl to get
that.
I do not have any better idea.  Not for working around the problem, not for 
debugging it.
