Ken,
Will you show output of “./smp_read_sgpio /dev/da5” ?
At least, an output that I can see the gpio read.
First I wanted to see if I could get similar to what you gave on the
mailing list. I did.
$ sudo smp_discover ses5 -b

Second, pick a device number.
$ sudo camcontrol smpphylist ses5 -q

Next, I tried reading gpio.
$ sudo smp_read_gpio da114 -vH
Read GPIO register request: 40 02 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 41 02 01 00 00 00 00 00
Exit status 1 indicates error detected
And, for the fun of it.
$ sudo smp_read_gpio ses5 -vH
Read GPIO register request: 40 02 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
