ida(4) status

I recently obtained a Compaq 6400R with a Smart Array 431 controller. 
The machine has 4 Pentium 3 550MHz w/ 2MB L2 cache processors, 1GB of 
RAM, and 4 18GB 10K rpm hard drives.  I was wondering what was the 
current status of the ida(4) driver.  It doesn't appear to be MPSAFE 
based on the busdma page.  I was basically given this machine and would 
like to use it to test FreeBSD SMP.  In any case, just wondering what 
I'm facing here.
