I was able to get past this error by uninstalling rubygem-rdoc3-3.12.2 and
installing rubygem-rdoc-4.2.1.  Note that some ports call for rubygem-rdoc3 -
for my needs I was able to adjust the Makefiles to use rubygem-rdoc in place of
rubygem-rdoc4.
