Many years ago, I got a Canon (yes, I know) laser printer
to work. On "Windows", it was not possible - no driver anymore.
On FreeBSD, I installed the Linux ABI and the "CCP" program
provided for Linux, "plumbed" that into the strange construct
of files and sockets into CUPS, and the printer worked again.
I did use the native FreeBSD CUPS version, only the "CCP"
program required Linux compatibility.
