Cannot print from mate desktop

This suggests there's something wrong with CUPS. Maybe due to
an update, some of its "moving parts" has moved a bit too much,
and you need to restore the CUPS landscape. :-)
I have been seeing this a few times in the past. The first place
to look at is the CUPS log file, especially /var/log/cups/error_log
for the errors. I'm certain you'll find some case of "not found"
somewhere in there.
