Yes, I'ave done something similar in the past, as execution
permissions are not a problem; for example:
xterm -class SHUTDOWN -fg black -bg red -fullscreen -e "shutdown -p now ; read DUMMY"
I also have this assigned to the key combination Ctrl+Alt+Moon
("Moon": Sun type 7 USB keyboard, top right button). So I have
a convenient, but not "accident-prone" key combination and don't
even have to explicitely click on something.
Never touch a running system. ;-)
