AMD GPU support

I'm thinking about using FreeBSD again, with the 12.0 release. One shortcoming I noted on previous releases was the lack of amdgpu support for cards such as my RX-480. Hopefully this has been fixed by now, since it would increase my enthusiasm (as it did for Linux when this support was available). Does anyone know what the status of hardware acceleration for high-end AMD cards is?
