11.1 AMD vmdk failing with /lib/libcrypto.so.8 error

Yes, the i386 vm was deleted
the AMD vmdk is the only one present and running
the fbsd startup is showing a lot of processes failing to load because of the /lib/libcrypto.so.8 problem
the AMD vmdk is for what version of VMware?
We are running VMWare 6.5
