X fails to start; may be due to recent ports updates...?

Correction: WRT the root account, X will start and so do both my
windowmanagers; XFCE and Windowmaker.

This is a change from Saturday, February 11 to Sunday, February 12. My
user account still fails to load a windowmanager.
