Hi Mayuresh,

Can't help with mutt; I've always used pine, in recent years alpine.

The only thing 'scary' about alpine is its number of (runtime) config 
options, but I've only ever changed a few things from sane defaults.

alpine has no dependency on perl, so I'm wondering what happened there?
