If this is a laptop, remember some laptops require you to press an <Fn>
key to send the <F1> - <F12> keycodes (this is often configurable in the
BIOS). So to issue the <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<F1> key sequence, you actually have
to press <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Fn>+<F1>.
