FreeBSD is at version 10.1 or current at 11.
Remember portsnap fetch extract or update?
portupgrade or portmaster?
FreeBSD has now a binary packetmanager, pkg.
Other things like zfs or gpt as default are other changes.
Download 10.1, install and look, what you are missing.
